Hilltop Children’s Center

This replaced a 10-year-old WordPress site that had some serious technical issues.

To keep costs down, Hilltop staff members (with no prior web development experience) wrote the content, optimized the photos, created the layouts, and basically built every page.

Actual Websites did the project management and the technical tasks. We kept in close touch with the Hilltop staff, walking them through every step of the project. It was a beautiful collaboration.

Our role included:

  • Complete redesign of style and structure
  • Managed project scope and timeline
  • Created site architecture
  • Organized and facilitated focus group for site functionality and structure
  • Recommended a new ISP, managed all DNS changes
  • Mentored Hilltop staff on website layout and design, content strategy, navigation, SEO and security
  • Vetted and tested plugins for compatibility on a separate test site
  • Facilitated a user testing event
  • Proofread, tested
  • Set up security and cloud-based scheduled backups
